Resolution at the Investigation Stage

A complaint may be resolved at any stage during the investigation process.  If a complaint is settled, a settlement agreement will be prepared and signed by the parties.   In accordance with the Human Rights Act, the settlement agreement will need to be approved by the Commissioners.

Commissioners meet 5 times a year to review investigation reports and settlement agreements.

Signed settlement agreements are placed before the Commissioners for approval. Once a settlement agreement has been approved, it becomes a binding contract on the parties.
