The Commission is pleased to be partnering to host a Holocaust Memorial Service taking place in Sydney on April 9th, 2020.

March 20th, 2020 - March 23rd, 2020 - National Black Canadians Summit 2020

In March 2020, Canada’s Black communities will converge in Halifax to celebrate the history of Black Nova Scotia and gather for the third installment of the National Black Canadians Summit (NBCS).

January 30th, 2020 - January 30th, 2020 - Free Human Rights 101 Workshop, Halifax (Government Employees Only)

his day-long workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to explore issues of diversity and discrimination, and to better understand them within the context of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act.

March 27th, 2019 - March 27th, 2019 - Street Checks Report Public Release

The independent report by Prof. Scot Wortley from the University of  Toronto's Centre For Criminology into the issue of street checks and racial profiling by police services in the Halifax Regional Municipality will be released on Wednesday, March 27.

The press confrence is by invitation only and will include a presentation by Prof. Wortley and responses from stakeholders including members of the community and police.

There will also be a livestream on this page beginning at 9:00 a.m. A recording of the press conference will be posted here following the event, along with a copy of the full report.
