Independent Human Rights Hearing Begins May 20
An independent human rights board of inquiry in the matter of Mikki Rhyno and Rebecca Sparks vs. Ackman Dartmouth Yorkshire Inc. and the Province of Nova Scotia (Department of Community Services) will begin Tuesday, May 20.
Both complainants allege that Ackman Dartmouth Yorkshire Inc. and the Province of Nova Scotia (Department of Community Services) discriminated against them based on their source of income. The complaints involve the same grounds and time period.
The board chair for the hearing is Donald C. Murray, who is independent of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.
The hearing will take place at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax, Bicentennial Room, 980 Parkland Dr., Halifax, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The hearing is open to media and the public.
