This fireside chat invites participants into an honest, reflective, and inspiring conversation about how the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is operationalizing human rights through its ongoing efforts to dismantle systemic racism and hate.
Hosted by Tracey Jones-Grant, the Managing Director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion / African Nova Scotian Affairs, this discussion bridges the past and present — exploring how the legacy of human rights advocacy continues through local action, leadership, and collaboration.
Featuring Russel Brooks, Advisor of Anti-Black Racism, and Cathy Collett, Senior Policy Advisor with Government Relations, this session will highlight the development of HRM’s Corporate Anti-Black Racism Training and Anti-Black Racism Policy, and how this work connects to global human rights principles, dignity, equality, justice, and participation.
The conversation will underscore that Human Rights Week is not just a celebration; it’s a moment of accountability and renewal a time to assess our progress, strengthen our resolve, and deepen our collective commitment to making equity a lived reality for everyone in our city.
